Enhanced fraud protection.

When you use your card at a chip-activated terminal, it generates a one-time use code that’s virtually impossible to counterfeit and helps reduce in-store fraud.

Global acceptance.

Chip-based transactions are the new security standard, widely used by more merchants every day. You can use your card anywhere Visa® is accepted whether businesses are chip-ready or not, as well as online and by phone.

Easy to use.

At stores without a chip-enabled terminal, just swipe your card like usual. It’s easy to pay at a chip-enabled terminal:

A: Once you activate your new credit or credit card, please destroy your existing card.

A: If your card is a replacement for an existing card with the same card number, you may continue using your existing PIN. If your card is a replacement for an existing card with a different number, you must change your PIN. Your card may have a new expiration date and 3-digit security code, so please be sure to update your information with merchants that charge your card regularly.

A: Every time you use your card at a chip-enabled terminal, the embedded chip generates a unique transaction code. This prevents stolen data from being fraudulently used.

A: You can use your card anywhere Visa® is accepted. Your card has an EMV chip and a magnetic strip to accommodate any situation.

A: Yes. You can still use your card to get cash, check your balance and more. Be sure to insert the chip end of your card into the ATM with the chip facing up. Your card will remain in the ATM until your transaction is complete.

A: Yes. If a merchant’s terminal is not yet chip-enabled, you can continue to swipe your card. Then enter your PIN, or select the “credit” option and sign for your purchase (if necessary).

A: In a separate mailing, you will receive a notice informing you of the personal identification number (PIN) assigned to your card. Once received, you can set up your own PIN by calling 800-992-3808 or at any time by visiting any of our convenient branch locations.
